Clouds and Skies

I have always been fascinated by clouds and have recently joined the Cloud Appreciation Society (Member 21235) who "seek to persuade all who will listen of the wonder and beauty of clouds" (see links page).   So here are some sky-related photos. Virga make them look a bit like jellyfish and are formed by trails of snow, rain or ice droplets falling from them.  This precipitation never reaches the ground. Parhelia:  This slide and the next show Parhelia (aka sundogs or mock suns) which can occur on one or both sides of the sun.  This is the sundog at the South side of the setting sun ... Parhelia:  ... and this is the corresponding sundog on the North side of the same sun.  Parhelia are formed when sunlight is refracted through  hexagonal ice crystals falling almost horizontally.
