Moths in the Garden

Search for a moth using latin name, common name or part of a name and click "Go" or select a moth from the dropdown list to find out when and how the species was caught in the garden.  If a moth has an "*" following its name in the list, an image will be displayed when the moth is selected.  Records of 2004 are all of moths caught at a lighted window as we did not have a moth trap at the time.  Total number of species caught and identified so far: 189. If you notice any identification errors, please .

Of particular interest are the records for Maple Prominent which is found only at a handful of sites in South Lincolnshire, Great Oak Beauty (the first record for Lincolnshire - determined for me by Colin Smith who is the current Lincolnshire County Recorder) and Marasmarcha lunaedactyla - also the first record for Lincolnshire and determined for me by Colin.
